Should world leaders read fiction?

Is the mob dispersal believable?

Some critics find Scout's performance and the dispersal of the mob in Chapter 15 of TKaM to be unconvincing and too pat (easy). What do you think? Did Harper Lee make this situation believable, or does it seem contrived (made-up)? When discussing the town's reaction to his defense of Tom Robinson, Atticus tells Scout in Chapter 9 of TKaM, " '...you just hold your head high and keep your fists down...Try fighting with your head for a change..."(p.101) Why or why shouldn't people resist violence in all cases and at all costs?
